Real vs fake: Diamond
Diamond is the hardest gem and shows sharp brilliance with high refractive index. Glass and CZ look softer and often display excessive rainbow flash.

- Sharp white brilliance with controlled fire
- Cold, dense feel
- Facets meet in crisp knife-edge junctions
- Passes thermal conductivity pen (jeweler tools)

- Excessive rainbow sparkle (common in CZ)
- Rounded facet junctions on glass
- Fog test clears slowly on glass
- Visible bubbles in the stone
Field tests
- Fog test: breath on stone — diamond clears almost instantly
- Read-through test: print is hard to read through a diamond table
- Professional confirmation with jeweler tools is recommended
